MSU artificial language laboratory to celebrate 25 years of achievements

A quarter of a century ago, Don Sherman did what hundreds of other people do on any given night - he ordered a pizza by phone. But for Sherman and the others at the Michigan State University Artificial Language Laboratory, it was an historical moment. Sherman, who has facial palsy and some hearing loss, is believed to be the first person to use a computer-generated voice for any practical purpose.
