A quarter of a century ago, Don Sherman did what hundreds of other people do on any given night - he ordered a pizza by phone. But for Sherman and the others at the Michigan State University Artificial Language Laboratory, it was an historical moment. Sherman, who has facial palsy and some hearing loss, is believed to be the first person to use a computer-generated voice for any practical purpose.

A Michigan State University study says many small children, some as young as one year of age, are being diagnosed and treated with drugs for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
