EAST LANSING, Mich. - To celebrate 10 years of highlighting great photography from members of the MSU community around the world, organizers of the Global Focus international photography competition are opening a new award category: the People's Choice.
"We want our extended MSU family all over the world to be engaged," said Jeffrey Riedinger, dean of international studies and programs. "Incorporating online voting into Global Focus is one way we can make that possible."
Following tradition, judges will select first- through third-place winners out of student, faculty/staff and alumni categories. The judging panel consists of a member of the MSU faculty, a professional photographer and one community member.
This year, a new winner will be named in each category based on the popularity of the photograph as shown by the number of votes received online.
All photographs entered in the competition are taken outside the United States on business trips, personal vacations or during educational experiences such as study abroad programs. Some are of people and some are of places; all are visual representation of culture.
Winners of Global Focus will be displayed in the International Center lobby, as well as published online at www.isp.msu.edu/awards/photocontest and in ISP's annual magazine, "MSU International."
Visit the Global Focus Web site to view the galleries of entries and cast your vote.
